Professor Dorothy Gerring is a registered architect and has over 30 years of professional experience teaching sustainability. She is an expert in green building and renewable energy systems, certified by USGBC as a LEED AP BD+C and by the Passive House Institute US as a CPHC and CPHB.
She is a Professor of Architecture at the Pennsylvania College of Technology and is the author of the book “Renewable Energy Systems for Building Designers: Fundamentals of Net Zero and High Performance Design”.
Professor Gerring has been faculty advisor for multiple DOE Solar Decathlon Design Challenge teams (and predecessor design contests) and served on the National Green Building Standard 2021 revision for Chapter 7, Energy Efficiency.
She has presented to a variety of groups, developed degrees focusing on sustainability and energy, and appeared in green media programs.
